ABOUT KOH PHANGAN

Koh Phangan is a lush tropical island in the gulf of southern Thailand. Nestled between Koh Samui and Koh Tao, rumour has it that our island is formed over a huge quartz crystal. It is also home to an international conscious & spiritual community.

GETTING TO KOH PHANGAN

Nearest international and domestic airport: Koh Samui (USM)

Second nearest international and domestic airport: Surat Thani (URT)

Arrival by plane:

Once you have arrived in Thailand, the quickest way to get to Koh Phangan is to take a domestic flight to Koh Samui (or take an international flight directly to Koh Samui/Surat Thani). From there, you can take a ferry to Koh Phangan.

Lomprayah is one fast speedboat ferry company that provides joint ticket transfers from Koh Samui & Surat Thani airport to the ferry pier and then the ferry ticket to Koh Phangan. There is a ticket counter at both airports.

Raja Ferry is a slow ferry service that provides ferry services from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan. It is recommended for traveling with a vehicle or as a cheaper alternative.

Arrival by land:

Many inter-state bus or train companies provide long distance land transport (train and/or bus) to Surat Thani or Chumphon where you will take the ferry from the mainland to the island. This is a more environmentally friendly option to air travel, but will take much longer time-wise.

You can purchase joint tickets which includes a long-distance train/bus to the mainland pier and connecting ferry to Koh Phangan. Lomprayah is one company that provides joint ticket services from various parts of Thailand to Koh Phangan.

Alternatively, you can hire a private driver to take you via a car/van to the mainland pier.

Arrival by sea:

Various ferry companies provide connections between Chumphon, Surat Thani, Koh Samui and Koh Tao to Koh Phangan multiple times a day, everyday.

Once you are in Koh Phangan:

You can take a taxi from the pier to your hotel. You can also rent a moped or car from the rental shops directly in front of the pier.

Getting around Koh Phangan:

You can rent your own moped or car during your stay here. This is the most practical and comfortable way to get around the island. Alternatively, there are local taxi services that can take you around the island.
